'Tongkat Hujan' translates to 'Rain Stick' in Indonesian. Currently this proposal offers low cost locally produced filter-systems, capable of filtering up to 2000 L of rain or tap water into drinking water. The goal is to create adoption of rainwater harvesting and use, in areas (like inner-city kampung's) where support is needed to manage the availability and affordability of water. The ‘Tongkat Hujan’ (DIY tech) aims to empower local people in the least affluent areas of Jakarta, to shape a more water secure life driven by rain!
